Why You Won’t Look “Frozen”

One of the most frequent things I hear during a consultation—usually whispered with a bit of trepidation—is: “Dr Noreen, I want to look refreshed, but please don’t make me look like I’ve had ‘work’ done.”

I completely understand that fear. We’ve all seen the “frozen” foreheads and the “pillow-face” look that has unfortunately become a caricature of the aesthetics industry. As a doctor, my philosophy is the exact opposite. I believe the best aesthetic work is invisible; it’s the kind of work that makes your friends ask if you’ve been on holiday or changed your skincare routine, rather than asking who your injector is.

The Science of Expression

When I perform anti-wrinkle treatments, I’m not just looking at a line on your skin; I’m looking at the complex interplay of your facial muscles. As a GP, I have spent years studying anatomy, and I know that every face moves differently. The “frozen” look happens when a practitioner treats every forehead with the same “blanket” dose.

My approach is often referred to as “Baby Botox” or micro-dosing. We target the dynamic wrinkles—those that appear when you frown or squint—while preserving the static movement. This means you can still raise an eyebrow in surprise or smile warmly at your family, but the deep “11” lines between your brows stay softened. It’s about relaxation, not paralysis.

The “Doctor-Led” Difference

In a medical-led clinic, we prioritise facial harmony. If we are using fillers, we aren’t just “filling” a fold; we are restoring lost volume in a way that respects your natural proportions. Over-filling happens when the “Golden Ratio” of the face is ignored. My aim is to restore the “Triangle of Youth”—where the widest part of the face is at the cheekbones, tapering to the chin—rather than creating the bottom-heavy look that looks so unnatural.

If you’ve been sitting on the fence because you’re worried about losing your identity, let’s have a thorough consultation at my Leamington clinic. We’ll start conservatively, focus on subtle refinements, and ensure that when you look in the mirror, you still see you—just the most well-rested version.
